Students captivated by Black Jack
By ARYANA EADES AND GAYLEN METHVIN. Marta Fischer’s classroom went to the dogs recently. Or, dog, to be exact. But this was a very special dog. Guest Susan Vipond brought her Labrador retriever, Black Jack,to explain to the class about service dogs and how helpful these dogs are to people in need. Fischer’s students and those from Janice Mireles’ classes had read an article in a magazine about a teenager named Becca and her service dog. Becca suffers from Lupus, a disease that attacks the immune system.
