Belia P. Gonzales, 84, of Uvalde died on Nov. 17, 2013, at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A short memorial with visitation following will be held tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. She was born on Nov. 6, 1929, in San Angelo to Eva Peña and Ignacio Peña. According to the family, Gonzales will be remembered as a wonderful cook, a great seamstress and a very strong woman full of wisdom and love for the Lord. She married Pedro G. Gonzales on April 7, 1956. When her husband was killed in an automobile accident on Oct. 27, 1974, she dedicated her life to raising her four children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Antonio Lopez; and one sister, Enedina Vaquera. She is survived by two daughters, Marcella Gonzales and Sandra Hopper and husband, Steve, all of Uvalde; two sons, Pete Gonzales and wife, Maribel, of Uvalde and Rene Gonzales and wife, Lillie, of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Garett Hopper, Dylan Hopper, David Gonzales, Joe Gutierrez, Joe Castillo and Herman Pesina.
