Where do you read the newspaper? The Uvalde Leader-News is again accepting photo submissions from people reading the newspaper in far-flung or unique geographical locations. The newspaper first held the contest in 2013 and received dozens of entries, which appeared one at a time on the front page of each edition of the newspaper – for nearly one year.Simply e-mail, mail or bring your photos into us on or before Dec. 31, 2016, to be eligible for the contest. Rosario Escamilla, 58, of D’Hanis, formerly of Uvalde, died on Nov. 14, 2013, at Medina Regional Hospital in Hondo. She was born on April 9, 1955, in Uvalde to Lillie Ochoa Moreno and Vique Moreno. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two daughters, Lydia Escamilla and Laura Escamilla, both of Uvalde; five sisters, Olga Carabajal, Esther Moreno, Irene Flores and Veronica Medina, all of Uvalde and Rebecca Flores of San Antonio; one brother, Roland Moreno; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m., following the recitation of the Holy rosary at 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hondo. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in D’Hanis. HONDO FUNERAL HOME OF HONDO
