The society of St. Teresa of Jesus will be celebrating 100 years of service in Uvalde with a special church service and gettogether on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Teresian Sisters Angeles and Isabelle recounted their experiences in Uvalde and gave the history on how their congregation ended up here in 1913. “The congregation is from Spain originally. We came to this country as refugees from Mexico, actually,” Sister Angeles said. “In 1910, the revolution in Mexico got real problematic, so the superiors, the big honchos from Spain, came to see how the conditions were in Mexico.”
