Serafin “Tino” Roman Jr., 84, of Uvalde died on Nov. 20, 2013, at his residence. A rosary was recited yesterday and a vigil will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born on Jan. 5, 1929, in La Pryor to Rosa Cruz Roman and Serafin Roman. The family said Roman was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in law enforcement as a police officer in Blanco and as a constable in Uvalde. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maria “Tome” Roman of Uvalde; four daughters, Janie Moreno and husband, Mario, of San Antonio, Anita Fuentes, JoAnn Muse and husband, Glen, and Erica Fuentes, all of Houston; four sons, Jesse Roman and wife, Becky, of Kerrville, Johnny Fuentes and wife, Sylvia, of Uvalde, Johnny Roman of Texas and Claudio Roman of Florida; one sister, Santos Martinez of Uvalde; two brothers, Frank Roman of Uvalde and Emilio Roman of Kerrville; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tony Fuentez; and one brother, George Roman.
