Where do you read the newspaper? The Uvalde Leader-News is again accepting photo submissions from people reading the newspaper in far-flung or unique geographical locations. Esperanza C. Flores of La Pryor died on Jan. 10, 2014, at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 11, 1936, in La Pryor to Jacinta Arriola Cruz and Manuel Cruz. She is survived by four daughters, Gloria Perez and husband, Javier, Diana Lopez and husband, Jesse, Martha Flores, all of La Pryor and Sonia Flores and husband, Ruben Uriegas, of Uvalde; two sons, Manuel Flores Jr. and wife, Janet, of Houston and Roberto Flores and wife, Elvia, of Portland; one brother, Manuel Cruz Jr. of La Pryor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Manuel O. Flores; two sisters, Olivia Perez and Eva Ortiz; and one brother, Alejandro Cruz. A rosary was recited on Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass was held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment followed in La Pryor Cemetery. Pallbearers were Javier Perez Jr., Jesus Lopez, Manuel Flores III, George Gonzales, Greg Gonzales and Frank Martinez Jr. Honorary pallbearer was Brayden Flores.
