Where do you read the newspaper? The Uvalde Leader-News is again accepting photo submissions from people reading the newspaper in far-flung or unique geographical locations. Antonia Esparza, 84, of Batesville died on Jan. 21, 2014, at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 25, 1929, in Batesville to Rosa Rodriguez Rios and Julian Rios. She married Jose Guadalupe Esparza in Crystal City. She is survived by one daughter, Oralia Martinez and husband, Larry, of La Pryor; one son, David Rodriguez of Florida; two sisters, Petra Mendez of Florida and Victoria Ramos of Batesville; 10 grandchildren, Larry Martinez Jr., Lori Martinez, Joe Adrian Martinez, Michael Martinez, Sandy Martinez, Patty Rodriguez, Johnny Joe Martinez, Lalo Rodriguez, Mario Esparza Jr. and Blanca Hernandez; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Hilario Rodriguez; two grandsons, David Rodriguez and Julian Rodriguez; two sisters, Librada Medina and Cerilda Sanchez; and three brothers, Domingo Rios, Casamiro Rios and Victorino Rios. A rosary was recited on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral Mass was held yesterday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Batesville. Interment followed in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Martinez Jr., Joe Adrian Martinez, Mario Esparza Jr., Julian Rodriguez Jr., Johnny Joe Rodriguez and Josh Hernandez.
