Robert “Bobby” Allen McEntyre, age 48, of Uvalde, TX, passed away Oct. 11, 2014. Bobby was born June 15, 1966, in San Antonio, TX, to Elaine Been and the late Billie Wayne McEntyre. Bobby was a 1984 graduate of Uvalde High School. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Michael Been. Survivors include his mother, Elaine Been of New Braunfels; sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Charles Morin of Bulverde; nieces and nephews, Matthew, Waylon, Casey, Kaitlyn and Nicole; grandmother, Norma McEntyre of Lytle; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tondre- Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville, TX. The funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Tondre- Guinn Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Lytle Community Cemetery in Lytle, TX. Elisa Silva, 82, of Uvalde died on Oct. 10, 2014, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born on Dec. 6, 1931, in D’Hanis to San Juana Cortez Reyes and Sabino Reyes. She married Manuel Campos Silva on March 26, 1950.
David Garner Burleson Sr., 79, of Vance died on Oct. 8, 2014, in San Antonio. He was born on Dec. 23, 1934, in Wimberley to Lena Stephenson Burleson and Perry Edgar Burleson. He is survived by his sons, Jim Bob Burleson, David Garner Burleson (Flippen) Jr. and William Perry Burleson (Flippen); two grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Laverne; two brothers, Billie James Burleson and Mickey Joe Burleson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine siblings, Oliver Dolpho Burleson, Woody Lyn Burleson, Robert Edgar Burleson, Dorcas Lola Burleson, Teresa Aline Burleson, Mary Lou Burleson, Anna Marcelene Burleson, Martha Carol Burleson and Jerry Nell Burleson. Visitation was held Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Nelson Funeral Chapel in Camp Wood. Graveside services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Vance Cemetery in Vance with Cody Haynes officiating.
Crescencia Rodriguez de Ramirez, 78, of Uvalde died on Oct. 7, 2014, at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 4, 1936, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico to Dolores Gutierrez and Nemesio Rodriguez. She married Lorenzo Ramirez Alvarez on July 24, 1955, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. She is survived by her husband of 59 years; four daughters, Francisca Hernandez and husband, Andres, Hortencia Cardenas and husband, Oscar, Norma Leticia Jimenez and husband, Johnny, all of Uvalde and Maria Suarez and husband, Sergio, of San Antonio; three sons, Jesus Alfonso Ramirez and wife, Maricela, of Uvalde, Lorenzo Ramirez Jr. and wife, Elsa, of Blessing and Rolando Ramirez and wife, Edna, of Midfield; one sister, Maria Antonia Rodriguez de Beza of San Antonio; one brother, Manuel Rodriguez Gutierrez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; 28 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Abraham H. Mendoza, 27, of San Antonio, formerly of Uvalde, died on Oct. 4, 2014, in San Antonio. He was born on Oct. 23, 1986, in Uvalde to Estela Hernandez Mendoza and Jose Abraham Mendoza. He married Me’chele Saunders on Feb. 27, 2010, in Uvalde. He is survived by his wife of four years; parents; two daughters, Ajia Rachelle Saunders and Aliyah Krystal Saunders, both of San Antonio; one son, Alexander Stephen Saunders of San Antonio; two sisters, Christy Mendoza of San Antonio and Sara Hernandez of Uvalde; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Paulina and Thomas Hernandez; paternal grandparents, Sara and Alfonso Mendoza; and two uncles, Jose Luis Mendoza and Danny Hernandez. A rosary was recited on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Cremation was under the direction of the funeral home.
Roy O’Neill, 81, of Austin, formerly of Uvalde, died on Oct. 5, 2014, in Austin. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born on Jan. 17, 1933, in Devine to Lucy Elner Nixon O’Neill and Lionel Franklin O’Neill. He is survived by one son, Duane O’Neill and wife, Kay, of Austin; one daughter, Cheryl Poinsett and husband, Bill, of Brazoria; one grandson, Cody O’Neill; one granddaughter, Cheri Locke and husband,Tony; one great-grandson, Landen Locke; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Linehan of Batesville and Lou Ann Hayes of Carrizo Springs; and one stepsister, Joyce Craig Anderson of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Rumfield O’Neill; and one brother, Virgil O’Neill. Pallbearers will be Duane O’Neill, Cody O’Neill, Roy Long, M.J. Blackman, Ruben Rivera and A.D. Helen Lucille Van Pelt, 92, of Concan died on Oct. 4, 2014, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born on Aug. 27, 1922, in Uvalde to Marie Davenport Nelson and Emmett Curtis Nelson. She is survived by one son, Tommy Van Pelt and wife, Patti, of Concan; two daughters, Shirley Sliter of Concan and Diane Thomas and husband, Lynn, of Brownwood; one brother, Milton Nelson of Houston; five grandchildren, Tim Ramback, Aaron Ramback, Chris Van Pelt, Melissa Gadbois and Mandy Horst; and two great-grandchildren, Dilana Gadbois and Levi Ramback. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Hammer Van Pelt; and two brothers, E.C. Nelson and Albert Foster Nelson. Graveside services were held yesterday at 11 a.m. in Concan Cemetery with Paul Stephens officiating.
