Frederick Justin McIntosh, 87, of Sabinal died on April 22, 2016, at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Sept. 8, 1928, in Columbus to Louise (Barton) and William E. McIntosh. He married Ethel Marie Bills on Dec. 20, 1952, in Dublin. She preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by one son, Bobby McIntosh and wife, Pam, of Sabinal; one daughter, Rita Hudson and husband, Robert, of Castroville; two brothers, Eugene McIntosh and wife, Jean, of Lafayette, Indiana, and William Herbert McIntosh and wife, Reva, of Blanco; three grandchildren, Leah Keeney and husband, Tracey, Justin McIntosh and wife, Patricia, and Alaina Weynand and husband, Vance; and eight great-grandchildren, Hayden Keeney, Jackson Keeney, Harper McIntosh, Allison McIntosh, Logan Weynand, Victoria Weynand, Alexandria Weynand, and Elizabeth Weynand. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister, Florene Shaw. Graveside services were held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
Hal Jessee, 91, of La Pryor died on April 26, 2016, at the University Hospital in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Internment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery. Jesse was born on July 7, 1924, in La Pryor to Marie (Abele) and Paul Jessee. He graduated from La Pryor High School in 1941. He attended college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He joined the military and served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. He was stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan, and Pavuvu Island, Central Province of Solomon Islands, for three years. He was appointed as a driving instructor for amphibious tractors. Following his military service, he moved to San Antonio to attend the Draughon’s Business College of San Antonio, where he met his future wife, Vada Waite. The couple married in her hometown of Comfort on June 17, 1950. They had two children, Vernon and Holly.
Ruth Paula Spoon Harris Jennings, 68, of Uvalde died on April 20, 2016, in San Antonio. She was born on Dec. 30, 1947, in Mebane, North Carolina to Christine (Barneycastle) and James Spoon. She attended Mebane High School and graduated from Burlington Business College. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1992. A teacher by vocation, she taught in San Antonio and for the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District. After retiring, she continued to work as a substitute teacher at Uvalde High School. She is survived by her husband, Frank M. Jennings of Uvalde; one son, Edward Harris Jr. of Uvalde; one daughter, Denise Cheryl Harris Jennings of San Diego, California; two grandchildren, Dylan and Sklyar Posey of San Diego, California; two brothers, Jeffry Spoon of Conroe, and David Mangum of San Antonio; and one sister, Sarah Webster of Bassett, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents.
