Antonio F. Santos, 81, of Uvalde died on Nov. 30, 2014, at Amistad Nursing Home. He was born on Oct. 9, 1933, in Melchor Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico to Concepcion Flores Santos and Juan M. Santos. In 1956, Santos married Vicenta Rodriguez in Melchor Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 58 years; three daughters, Maria L.
Santos V. Ruiz, 73, of Uvalde died on Dec. 1, 2014, at Amistad Nursing Home. A rosary was read yesterday and will be recited again today at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by cremation. He was born on Sept. 13, 1941, in Concan to Adelina Villarreal Ruiz and Guadalupe Ruiz. He married Esperanza Velasquez in Uvalde. He is survived by three daughters, Minerva Isaiz and husband, Guadalupe, of Uvalde, Margot González and husband, Frank, of Oneonta, Alabama and Mireya Ruiz and companion, Roland Reyes, of Uvalde; two sons, Santos Ruiz Jr. and wife, Ermila, of Rocksprings and Guadalupe Ruiz and wife, Laura, of Uvalde; five sisters, Sabina Garcia of Uvalde, Isabel Betty of Palo Pinto, Dominga Madrigal of Mineral Wells, Josefa Trevino and Inocencia Gutierrez, both of Uvalde; one brother, Antonio Ruiz of Uvalde; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Herminia G. Moreno, 87, of Uvalde died on Nov. 28, 2014, at her residence. She was born on Aug. 26, 1927, in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico to Anastacia Muniz Garcia and Juan Jose Garcia. She is survived by three daughters, Ana Flores and husband, Robert, Josie Regino and husband, Paul, and Rosemary Moreno and companion, Albert Mendoza, all of Uvalde; two sons, Johnny Joe Moreno and wife, Yolanda, and Jesus Moreno Jr., all of Uvalde; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesus Moreno; three daughters, Ignacia Moreno, Mari Pesina and Guadalupe Garcia. A prayer service was held Monday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing- Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery.Pallbearers were Ray Regino, Daniel Flores, Joseph Flores, Mark Moreno, Bobby Flores and Justin Arreola.
Roberto Cabello, 64, of Uvalde died on Nov. 20, 2014, at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Nov. 9, 1950, in Robstown to Maria Gonzalez Cabello and Pedro Cabello. He is survived by one daughter, Irene Cabello and husband, Abel Morin, of Uvalde; one son, Robert Cabello Jr. of Colorado; seven sisters, Gregoria Camacho of Uvalde, Isabella Gomez of Georgia, Irma Cabello of San Antonio, Catrina Cabello of Lubbock, Carolina Cabello of New Braunfels, Aurora Cabello of Lubbock and Rosemary Nieto of Kansas; six brothers, Pedro Cabello Jr. of Lubbock, Martin Cabello of Colorado, Juan Cabello of Snyder, David Cabello of Lubbock, Jose Cabello of New Braunfels and Ricardo Cabello of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Maria Victoria C. Morin and Abel Morin Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Victoria Cabello; and one son, Abel Cabello. A rosary was recited Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel.
Eleno S. Duran, 46, of San Antonio, formerly of Uvalde, died on Nov. 20, 2014, at his residence. He was born on April 29, 1968, in Uvalde to Amelia Salazar Duran and Eufemio Duran Sr. He married Esmeralda Araujo in San Antonio on Sept. 8, 2006. He is survived by his wife of eight years, a resident of San Antonio; mother, Amelia Duran of Uvalde; two sons, Felix Lopez and wife, Julie, of Ft. Worth and John Lopez and wife, Patricia, of San Antonio; two sisters, Lucia Duran of Uvalde and Lorena D. Vargas and husband, Baldemar, of San Antonio; two brothers, Eufemio Duran Jr. and wife, Velma, of San Antonio and Jaime Duran and wife, Maria, of Uvalde; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. A rosary was recited on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Jesus Cruz, 93, of Uvalde died on Nov. 21, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 3, 1921, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico to Maria Gonzalez Cruz and Anastacio Cruz. He married Francisca Esparza on Feb. 13, 1988, in Zaragosa, Coahuila, Mexico. He is survived by his wife, a resident of Uvalde; four daughters, Janie Rodriguez and husband, Domingo, and Connie Flores and husband, Raul, all of Uvalde, Mary Cruz of Nashville, Tennessee and Rosie Cruz of San Antonio; five sons, Jesse Cruz and wife, Soraya, of Uvalde, Pete Cruz of San Antonio, Joe Cruz and wife, Annie, of Hobbs, New Mexico, Armando Cruz and wife, Lupe, and Mike Cruz and wife, Amelia, all of Uvalde; one stepson, Paulo Esparza and wife, Rosa Elena, of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Consuelo Arizmendi of Morelia, Michoacán and Virginia Cruz of Mexico City; one brother, Tomas Cruz and wife, Paula, of Uvalde; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paula Jane Fear, 64, of Uvalde died on Nov. 22, 2014, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 24, 1950, in Annapolis, Maryland to Mary Frances Humel Cyr and Donald Cyr. She married George Fear on March 2, 1968, in Severna Park, Maryland. She is survived by her husband of 46 years; one daughter, Barbra Ann Fear of Uvalde; two sisters, Christine Wingo and Ruth Quellett, both of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jean Marie Sparks; and one brother, Steven Cyr. Cremation was under the direction of Rushing-Estes- Knowles Mortuary.
Wilma Spring, 96, died Nov. 20, 2014, in her sleep at Meadow Creek Nursing Home. She was born June 14, 1918 in Highland, Kansas to Pearl Pierson and Boyd Pierson. She married John Robert Spring on Oct. 10, 1936, in St. Joseph, Missouri. They lived in several places during their marriage, including Uvalde, Batesville and San Antonio. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991, after which Wilma moved to San Angelo and, later, to Rio Concho Retirement Home. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Annabelle (Milton) King and Julia Byrd; three brothers-inlaw, Jake (Mary), Earl (Agnes) and Herb (Jenny); one nephew, Kip Spring; and one niece, Judy Sutton.
Eva Cuellar Diaz, 88, of Uvalde died on Nov. 23, 2014, at her residence. A rosary was read Tuesday and yesterday and will be recited again today at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes- Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass will held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. She was born on Aug. 11, 1926, in Uvalde to Clara Cruz Cuellar and Severo Cuellar. She married Raul Diaz on March 27, 1946, in Uvalde. She is survived by one son, Raul Diaz Jr. and wife, Norma, of San Antonio; one grandson, Robert Joseph Diaz of San Antonio; one sister, Rebecca Garcia of Uvalde; two brothers, Richard Cuellar and Raul Cuellar, both of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Diaz Sr.; parents; one son, Roberto Diaz; three sisters, Amelia Aguilar, Ramona Barrera and Magdalena Varela; and one brother, Gilberto Cuellar.
