‘Hope’ G. Chavez

Esperanza “Hope” G. Chavez, 58, of Uvalde died on Feb. 3, 2014, at University Hospital in San Antonio. She was born on Nov. 17, 1955, in Winters to Maria Gutierrez Chavez and Jose Carabajal Chavez. She is survived by her father; seven sisters, Dionecia Lara and husband, Carlos, of Portales, N. M., Rebecca Chavez, Linda Chavez, Mellie C. Nava and husband, Bobby Jr., Elisa Chavez, all of Uvalde, Rosa Elia C. Alvarado and husband, John, of El Paso and Cristina Rios and husband, Jesus, of Kenedy; three brothers, Arturo Chavez and wife, Anna Maria, and Ricardo Chavez and wife, Carla, all of Uvalde and Gilbert Chavez and companion, Mickie, of Tuleta; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; one sister, Guadalupe Chavez; and one brother, Jose Chavez Jr. A vigil was held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass was held on Friday at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arturo Chavez, Juan Alvarado, Carlos Lara Jr., TJ Samarron, Jesus Rios Jr., Gilbert Chavez Jr., Richard Chavez and Victor Chavez. RUSHING-ESTES-KNOWLES MORTUARY, WWW.REKFUNERALS.COM
