Herrera named police chief

Following an extensive search, Eric Herrera has been named chief of police in the city of Uvalde. The decision came following a closed discussion on Tuesday evening between city council members. Herrera is joining the Uvalde Police Department from Pecos, where he is employed as a deputy with Reeves County Sheriff’s Office. He has been in law enforcement since 1983.
