Where do you read the newspaper? The Uvalde Leader-News is again accepting photo submissions from people reading the newspaper in far-flung or unique geographical locations. Maria Rubio, 67, of Uvalde died on Feb. 14, 2014, in Uvalde. She was born on Nov. 24, 1946, in La Pryor to Francisca Ortiz Perez and Genaro Perez. She married Leocadio Rubio Sr. in Uvalde on March 3, 1971. She is survived by her husband of 42 years; one daughter, Marisa Rubio of Uvalde; one son, Leocadio Rubio Jr. and wife, Nati, of Uvalde; three sisters, Eva Moreno and Celia Ortiz, both of La Pryor and Diana Ramos of Fort Morgan, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lupe Casares; and three brothers, Elias Perez, Genaro Perez Jr. and Arturo Perez. A rosary was recited on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral Mass was held yesterday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
