Alma Gertrude Casey, 93, of Uvalde died on Feb. 15, 2014, in Uvalde. She was born on Aug. 3, 1920, in Detroit to Mary Free Hamelton and John Hamelton. She married Orvel Vern “O.V.” Casey on July 18, 1950, in McAllen. He preceded her in death in 2008. She is survived by two daughters, Arlene Nichols and husband, Richard, of East Lansing, Mich., and Barbara Oliver and husband, Gary, of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; two sons, Glenn Casey and wife, Pat, of Uvalde and David Casey of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren; 27 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Thomas Floyd “Jack” Batchelor and Jimmy Wayne Casey; three brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Lafrenz officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joey Casey, Wesley Casey, Curtis Arnold, Orvel Lynn Casey, Ryan Talavera and Mickie Talavera. Honorary pallbearer was Casin Oliver.
