Extreme makeover: Probationers giving new life to old jail

Since it was decommissioned in 2012, the fate of the old Uvalde County Jail has been a topic of some discussion for county officials. Plans ranged from selling the building outright to merely stripping it of its bars and selling them as scrap metal. Now, however, sections of the jail are being made over to house the county’s juvenile probation program.
