Genevieve Engel Adair, 90, of Houston, known as Gen, died on April 12, 2014, at 4:30 p.m. at her residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Houston with Steve Wende officiating. Interment will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. She was born on April 30, 1923, in San Antonio to Vivienne Garnett Engel and Eddie August Engel, who were longtime Uvalde residents. Her father worked for Uvalde Producers Wool and Mohair, and her mother taught in Uvalde public schools retiring from Robb Elementary School. She married Kelly B. Adair Jr. on April 20, 1963, at First United Methodist Church in Uvalde. They had one son, Kevin Engel Adair. She was employed with Exxon for 30 years. She graduated from Asherton High School and The University of Texas at Austin. She was a First United Methodist Church member for approximately 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by one son, The Rev. Kevin Engel Adair and wife, Tamsin Simmill, of Durham, N.C. The family requests memorial donations to “The Prayer Garden of First United Methodist Church of Houston” 1320 Main St., Houston, TX 77002, in memory of Gen and Kelly Adair. GEO. H.
