Leon Aguirre Ruiz, 35, of Sabinal died on April 20, 2014, at his residence. A funeral Mass will be held today at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born on Dec. 3, 1978, in Uvalde to Benita Aguirre Youngs and Antonio Ruiz Sr. He is survived by his parents, residents of Uvalde; one daughter, Autumn Lyn Ruiz of Uvalde; two sons, William Edgar Ruiz of Uvalde and Calvin A. Ruiz of Sabinal; two brothers, Antonio Ruiz Jr. and Michael A. Ruiz, both of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Eddie Youngs; two nephews, Mark Ruiz and Michael A. Ruiz Jr.; one niece, Michaila Mari Ruiz; maternal grandparents, Cesario and Antonia Aguirre; and paternal grandparents, Guadalupe and Adelina Ruiz. A rosary was recited on Tuesday and a vigil was held yesterday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Pallbearers will be Adrian Ruiz, Antonio Ruiz III, Guadalupe Ruiz, Manuel Cortez, Bobby Cardenas and Ruben Cardenas. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Bennett and Eric Musquiz.
