Antonia Z. Torres, 96, of Uvalde died on May 3, 2014, in Uvalde. She was born on Sept. 11, 1917, in Hondo to Rosa Morales Zavala and Jose Zavala. She married Eutimio Torres on Feb. 7, 1930, in Hondo. She is survived by four daughters, Julia Guzman, Elida T. Moreno, Andrea T. Moreno and husband, Jesse R., and Antonia Rios, all of Uvalde; two sons, Gilberto Torres and wife, Maria, of Uvalde and Alejandro Torres and wife, Sulema, of San Antonio; four sisters, Rita Gamez of Iowa, Maria Acosta of Uvalde, Angelina Del Rio and Emma Pesina, both from San Angelo; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Valentin Torres and Eutimio Torres Jr.; two sisters, Clara Terrazas and Consuelo Garza; one brother, Jose Zavala Jr.; three son-in-laws, Victor Guzman Sr., Horacio Moreno and Joe Rios; one daughter-in-law Erika Torres; three grandchildren, Albert Alvarez, Noelia Perez and Jesse T. Moreno Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, David Musquiz, Joshua Alvarez and Arturo Bermea Jr. A vigil was held on May 4 at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass was held on May 5 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in Uvalde Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony T. Moreno, Victor Guzman Jr., Richard Torres, Gilbert Torres Jr., Raymond Torres and Robert Torres. Honorary pallbearer was Albert Moreno. THE PRECEDING IS A PAID OBITUARY.
