Where do you read the newspaper? The Uvalde Leader-News is again accepting photo submissions from people reading the newspaper in far-flung or unique geographical locations. The newspaper first held the contest in 2013 and received dozens of entries, which appeared one at a time on the front page of each edition of the newspaper – for nearly one year.Simply e-mail, mail or bring your photos into us on or before Dec. 31, 2016, to be eligible for the contest. Eva L. Boren of Leakey died on May 8, 2014, at her residence. She was born on March 11, 1933, in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Maria Dinter and John Dinter. She is survived by four daughters, Cindy Huggins and husband, Steve, Lori Shackelford and husband, Bryan, Patti Gonzalez and husband, Tomas, and Paula Beaver and husband, Lester; eight grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; three siblings, Bill Dinter, Polly Bullin and Bert Johb; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis C. “Pete” Boren; one son, Russell Boren; three sisters, Pat McLean, Maria Harris and Billie Baker; two brothers, Rudy Dinter and Lou Dinter; two sisters-in-law, Dollie Carter and Zola Schueling; and three brothers- in-law, Jerry Boren, Martin Boren and J.S. Boren. Graveside services were held on May 11 at 3 p.m. at the Rio Frio Cemetery in Rio Frio with Donna Magee officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Huggins, Bryan Shackelford, Tomas Gonzalez, Lester Beaver, Drew Shackelford, James Beaver, Samuel Beaver, Eric Chapman, Jason Brandt, Will Mitchell, Will Lamb and Ethan Morgan.
