John was an avid art collector of American Indian art. He enjoyed cycling, spending time with his dog Lucy and traveling to see his grandchildren. Throughout his life, John made many friends who, along with his family, remained devoted to him. People were drawn to his quick wit, his genuine interest in other people, his strong opinions, and his ability to laugh at himself. A small memorial service will be held at a private
home in Dallas in late June. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in the names of John and Sarah Rowland
