Salomon Davila Hernandez, 89, of Uvalde died on July 9, 2014, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born on Aug. 5, 1924, in San Antonio to Angelica Davila Hernandez and Tomas Hernandez. He is survived by five daughters, Maria Hernandez, Dora Hernandez, both of Uvalde, Mary Godina of Michigan, Linda Hernandez and Yolanda Hernandez, both of Chicago; four sons, Eleazar Rodriguez, Alberto Rodriguez, Guadalupe Hernandez and Johnny Hernandez, all of Chicago; one sister, Rosa Zamarripa of Uvalde; one brother, Gilberto Hernandez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico; 32 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mercedes Hernandez; one son, Raul Rodriguez Hernandez; and five brothers, Federico Hernandez, David Hernandez, Tomas Hernandez, Leandro Hernandez and Juan Rivas. A prayer service was held Friday and yesterday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Pallbearers will be Tomas Hernandez, David Hernandez, Abraham Mendoza Jr., Jerry Gallegos Jr., Daniel Herrera, Johnathon Hernandez and Armando Hernandez.
