Severiana A. De Leon, 93, of Batesville died on July 12, 2014, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 2, 1920, in Batesville to Julia Vasquez Aviles and Marcos Aviles. She is survived by five daughters, Carmen Morales and husband, Frank, Gloria Rubio, Estella De Leon, all of Uvalde, Janie Buantello and husband, Elpidio Buantello Jr., of Austin and Irma Hernandez and husband, Pedro Hernandez Sr., of San Antonio; two sons, Pedro De Leon and wife, Delia, of Uvalde and Porfirio De Leon and wife, Gloria, of Devine; 21 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Porfirio De Leon; one daughter, Minerva Sanchez; one grandson, Juan Morales; two sisters; and three brothers. A rosary was recited on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Rubio, Ernesto Morales, Leon De Leon, Eugene Hernandez, Pedro Hernandez Jr., Elpidio Sebastian Buantello and Noel Sanchez.
