Football season is getting closer
Where do you read the newspaper? The Uvalde Leader-News is again accepting photo submissions from people reading the newspaper in far-flung or unique geographical locations. The newspaper first held the contest in 2013 and received dozens of entries, which appeared one at a time on the front page of each edition of the newspaper – for nearly one year.Simply e-mail, mail or bring your photos into us on or before Dec. 31, 2016, to be eligible for the contest. With less than three weeks to go until the start of pre-season football workouts, Uvalde High School head football coach and athletic director Gary Griffin has been hard at work preparing for the new school year. “It’s been a busy summer. Besides trying to get ready for the start of football, I have been trying to fill some positions on my coaching staff,” said Griffin. “I hope to fill as many of our remaining openings as possible before the end of this month, because I really want to concentrate on football. I am ready for football season to start right now.”
