Where do you read the newspaper? The Uvalde Leader-News is again accepting photo submissions from people reading the newspaper in far-flung or unique geographical locations. The newspaper first held the contest in 2013 and received dozens of entries, which appeared one at a time on the front page of each edition of the newspaper – for nearly one year.Simply e-mail, mail or bring your photos into us on or before Dec. 31, 2016, to be eligible for the contest. Juan Maldonado Flores, 78, of Rocksprings died on July 23, 2014, in Kerrville. He was born on June 12, 1936, in Floresville to Margarita Maldonado Flores and Arturo Flores. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elida Valadez Flores of Rocksprings; five daughters, Emma Castillo and husband, Frank, of San Antonio, Irma D. Flores and husband, Alton, of Kerrville, Dora McRae and husband, John, of Wallard, Tennessee, Diana Maxwell and husband, Thomas, of San Antonio and Delma Ybarra of Kerrville; two sons, Elias Flores and wife, Robyn, of Austin, Minnesota, and Randy Flores of Rocksprings; one brother, Solomon Flores and wife, Maria, of Rocksprings; two sisters, Gloria Torres of Eden and Julia Flores Rodriquez of San Angelo; 32 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Juan Flores Jr.; one sister, Elvira F. Carrillo; and one brother, Francisco Jesus Flores. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Chapel in Rocksprings with the Rev. Ray Croft officiating. Interment followed in the Rocksprings Cemetery.
