Roman G. Garza Sr., 77, of Uvalde died on July 30, 2014, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. He was born on Jan. 1, 1937, to Francisca Gomez Garza and Manuel Garza. He is survived by one daughter, Maria De Lourdes Treviño of San Antonio; one son, Roman Garza Jr. and companion, Minga Madrigal, of Uvalde; four sisters, Leonor Pruneda and Paula Resendez, both of San Antonio, Maria Gomez of Sabinal and Juana Rendon of Uvalde; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita Orozco Garza; and two sisters, Simon Olivarez and Guadalupe Vasquez. A rosary was recited on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. A funeral Mass was held Friday at 4 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
