School district lauded for superior achievement

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District received a ranking of “superior achievement” and a perfect score of 70 for managing the district’s finances. Trustees were given the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, or FIRST, presentation by UCISD chief financial officer Becky Robinson on Oct. 21 at a special board meeting. The Texas Education Agency website states that “the purpose of the financial accountability rating system is to ensure that school districts...are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and achieve improved performance in the management of their financial resources.
