Main Street Uvalde manager Gloria Resma said the webinar is open to small business owners and Main Street leaders who support them.

Last year our very own Uvalde School of Gymnastics, LLC. won not only the first round of $5,000 but also the second round of $25,000 for a total of $30,000,” Resma said.

Kim Knape, who owns the gym, located at 202 S. Getty St., used grant money to purchase a long-awaited 30-foot Tumbl Trak.

Grant program

American Express and Main Street America teamed up in 2021 to create the grant program intended to help small businesses recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its third year of operation, grant awards have increased and $5.7 million in total funding is available.

About 500 small businesses will be selected to receive $10,000 grants. Subsequently, 25 of those selected will be awarded $30,000 Enhancement Grants, intended to help create transformative change for the business and the community.

Projects will be chosen based on feasibility, need, impact on the business and community reach.
