Anita A. Rodriguez

Anita A. Rodriguez, 94, of Sabinal died on Dec. 30, 2019, in Hondo.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1925, in Sabinal to Casimira (Alvarez) and Librado Alejandro.

She married Aurelio “Chapo” Rodriguez on May 15, 1958, in Hondo.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, of Sabinal; three sons, Gilberto Biera Jr. and wife, Mary Helen, of Castroville, Rodolfo Rodriguez and companion, Gloria Davis, of Sabinal, and Ricardo A. Rodriguez and companion, Eva Padilla, of Sabinal; two daughters, Patricia Garcia and husband, Juan, of Cotulla, and Rita Lopez of Sabinal; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gilberto Biera Sr.; son, Lee Biera Sr.; daughter, Margarita “Kika” Valdez; son-in-law Joe Lopez; three sisters, Leonor Calsado, Maria Hernandez and Elena Rodriguez; and brother, Francisco Alejandro.

Visitation began Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal. A rosary will recited on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. A funeral mass was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sabinal, with interment following at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Javier Lopez, Shayne Albarado, Sergio Valdez, Justz Rodriguez, Israel Valdez, Lee Biera Jr. and Mark Garza.
