Brad C. Mullen

Brad Coulson Mullen, 73, of Concan died on March 29, 2022, at his residence, with his wife, Beverly, at his side.

Visitation will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, 220 S. Getty St., followed by a graveside service at Rio Frio Cemetery in Rio Frio. Living Waters Church of Utopia Pastor Robert Richarz will officiate.

Mullen was born on March 8, 1949, in Brownsville to Blanche Virginia Coulson and Durward Lacy “D.L.” Mullen.

He remained a proud Texan his entire life.

He was a surprise to his parents and oldest two siblings, Ron and Lana Beth, as they did not know about his existence until after the birth of his twin brother, Bruce.

The Mullen family moved from Brownsville to San Antonio when the twins were 2 years old and then to Bangs in 1963.

The family described him as a hard worker, even at the age of 14 when he and and his twin would drive an 18-wheeler to assist their dad in his construction business.

Mullen graduated from Bangs High School where he broke records running track and joined his football team in going to the state championship match.

He earned a degree in business from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) where he met and married Nan Woods, the mother of his two children, Coulson and Mendy.

After graduating, Brad moved to the Dallas area in order to join his dad and Bruce in running their family business, Joe’s Hitch & Trailer.

He was a successful entrepreneur and businessman, having owned or co-owned 11 businesses and supervising around 1,000 employees throughout his lifetime. He was a broker, real estate developer, and especially enjoyed owning and operating TexasDove.net, as the largest dove outfitter of north central Texas. He also volunteered in the Lions Club.

Mullen enjoyed escaping the Texas heat to the family house in Rye, Colorado, that he, Bruce, and their father built in 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Tucker Mullen of Concan; brother, Ron Mullen of Austin; son, Coulson Mullen of Dallas; daughter, Mendy Landreth and husband, Craig, of Fort Work; four grandchildren, Riley Mullen, Aidan Mullen, Ali Landreth, and Jolie Landreth; and one great-grandson; extended family and friends; and a cat, Bailey Mullen Tucker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lana Beth Mullen; twin brother, Bruce Mullen; niece, Beth Ann Mullen; and nephew, Wade Mullen.

Pallbearers will be Ken Cooper, Ron Craig, Ken Fitzgerald, Chad R. Fox, Bob Krebs, and Brad Phillips.

Memorial donations may be made to What Matters Ministries & Missions for Casa Angelina Orphanage of Guatemala, whatmattersmm.org. The family requests that donors include a note specifying the donation is in honor of Brad Mullen.
