Concan Baptist Mission Church, 23711 N. U.S. Highway 83, will host a free sign language class at 6 p.m. The class will be led by experienced sign language interpreter Karen Parchman.

Wednesday, April 21

The Uvalde Area A&M Club will hold the annual Aggie Muster at the Uvalde County Event Center at the Fairplex. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., and dinner will begin at 7 p.m., followed by recognition of scholarship recipients, speaker, and the Muster Ceremony. Thursday, April 22

Community farmers market will be held in the downtown plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with an array of homegrown vegetables, baked goods, and artisan goods offered by area merchants.

During the Rotary Club of Uvalde’s noon meeting, Cynthia Vasquez, a volunteer with the Del Rio-based Val Verde Border Humanitarian Coalition, will give an overview of efforts to render aid to immigrants who have been processed by the U.S. Border Patrol and given 10 days to get oriented and make it to their sponsor’s city. Herby Ham Activity Center invites volunteers to a facility workday, beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers will be needed to help with yard work, cleaning and organizing inside, and working in the woodshop. Lunch will be provided. RSVP, 830-591-2711.

Uvalde Memorial Hospital, 1025 Garner Field Road, will host the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a mobile blood drive. Adults 18 and over who pass a brief health screening and healthy 16/17-year-olds who have written parental consent may donate blood in the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center bus. Photo identification is required for all donors.
