Edward R. Mann

Edward Roy Mann, 86, of Bandera, formerly of La Pryor, died Oct. 8, 2023, in San Antonio.

A graveside service will be held at Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Sunset Hills Cemetery, also known as La Pryor Cemetery, beside his wife.

He was born on May 18, 1937, in Charlotte Texas to Lily (Valchar) and Edward Mann.

He married Rose Johnson on Feb. 5, 1955, in Pleasanton.

He worked as an operations manager in the oil industry for almost 60 years, retiring in the early 2000s, and the city of Kilgore once awarded him the “Key to the City.” He was a Shriner and a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, having served as worshipful master for three one-year terms in 1967, 1983 and 1984. He was made a Master Mason in 1963 and was awarded his 50-year service award in 2015.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen Grasmick of Pipe Creek and Kristi Mann of College Station; two sons, Tommy Mann and wife, Karol, of Corpus Christi and Jerry Mann and wife, Joanna, of Justin; two sisters, Ruby Newman of San Antonio and Lillian Harrell of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Jessica Tidwell, Kimberly Ferguson and husband, Brent, Klinton Mann, Kori Mann, Jacy Mann and Jake Mann and wife, Loren; four great-grandchildren, Tatum Tidwell, Ember Ferguson, Brannon Ferguson and Owen Mann; and his faithful furry companion, BB.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Polesek; and his wife of 57 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Briscoe Animal Resource Center or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
