Fay I. Cox

Fay Ivy Cox, 76, of Camp Wood died on June 9, 2022, at a nursing facility in Lytle.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1945, in Texas to Mary Lon (Samford) and Melvin Luther Lee. 

The second of eight children, who included her twin Ella, Melvin, Linda, Annette, Lois, Pat, Kim, and Ruby, she helped raise her younger siblings for part of their young life.

She married David Ivy on July 13, 1963, in Crystal City, a union that continued until his death in 1992. They are survived by son, Andy Ivy and wife, Regina, of Uvalde; and two daughters, Elaine Flinchum of Harper and Shelly Honig and husband, Lance, of Devine; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

She married Mike Cox on Dec. 17, 1994, in Carrizo Springs, and they shared their life until her death. She loved his children like her own. They include Randy Cox and wife, Jill, of Uvalde, Jim Cox and wife, Jayme, of El Paso, and Katrina Cox; and 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. She beamed with love and pride when she spoke of them. She took great joy in spending time with them and in watching them grow.

The family said Cox had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcome. They described her as strong and supportive of her family and close friends, and they said she had a deep faith in and love for the Lord.

She loved to cook and bake, never letting someone visit without feeding them. She was talented at painting and gardening. 

She also had numerous nieces and nephews with whom she shared her love, talent and wisdom.

Graveside services began at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Hillcrest Cemetery.
