Fidencio Rivera Sr.

Fidencio Rivera Sr., 89, of Uvalde died on Sept. 1, 2017, at his residence.

He was born on Feb. 17, 1928, in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, to Margarita (de Hoyos) and Jacobo Rivera.

He is survived by two sons, Fidencio Rivera Jr. and wife, Elsa, and Fernando Rivera and wife, Susie; eight daughters, Luz Martinez and husband, Tony, Sylvia Ruiz, Rebecca Rivera, Delia Aviles and husband, Adam, Sulema Flores, and Esther Rodriguez and companion, Jaime Cortez, all of Uvalde, Susie Rivera and companion, Tony Gonzales, of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Ida Smylie of New Braunfels; three sisters, Zopopana Rivera de Chavez of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico, and Maria de Pilar Rivera Bu, and Sofia Rivera Wog, both of Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico; three brothers, Victorino Rivera, Candelario Rivera, and Silverio Rivera, all of Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico; 34 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olga Rivera; two daughters, Olgita Rivera and Juanita Rivera; one son, Fermin Rivera; three sisters, Petra Vasquez, Estella Solar, and Margarita Rivera.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Templo Cristiano, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
