Francisco Torres Mendoza, 79, of Uvalde died on July 20, 2017, at Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Uvalde.

A rosary was recited yesterday, and will be recited again today at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

A funeral mass will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1937, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Juanita (Torres) and Adeliado Mendoza.

He is survived by nine daughters, Elizabeth Ugalde of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Mari Salinas, Margie Jimenez and Carmen Medina, all of Laredo, Carolina Sanchez and Corina Sanchez, both of Austin, and Adela Benavides, Eloisa Salas and Juanita Amaya, all of Uvalde; five sons, Francisco Mendoza Jr., Alberto Mendoza, and Javier Mendoza, all of Uvalde, Jose Maria Mendoza of Universal City and Frank ‘’Boogie’’ Mendoza III of Jourdanton; one brother, Gregorio Mendoza of Uvalde;  two sisters, Marcina Garate of Monte Alto and Luz Luera of Edingburg; 39 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Valente T. Mendoza and Teodoro T. Mendoza.
