Gilbert C. Rodriguez
Gilbert Castilla Rodriguez, 85, of Uvalde died on July 8, 2023, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.
Visitation began July 12 and will continue July 13 from noon to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.
A funeral service is scheduled July 14 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home, and interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1937, in Mexico, to Maria De Jesus Navarro and Cruz Juantos Rodriguez. He married Teodora Garza on Aug. 27, 1960, in Mexico.
He is survived by his wife, Teodora G. Rodriguez of Uvalde; three sons, Cruz Rodriguez and wife, Patsy, of Knippa, Antonio Rodriguez and wife, Rebecca, of Brackettville, and Eliodoro “Gene” Rodriguez and wife, Lisa, of Uvalde; three daughters, Mirella Rodriguez, Mary Helen Hernandez and husband, Dennis, all of Uvalde, and Juanita Strickland and husband, Aaron, of San Antonio; two sisters, Maria De Jesus Martinez of Houston and Maria Cruz Moreno of Mexico; five brothers, Andres Rodriguez of Uvalde, Rodrigo Rodriguez of San Marcos, and Luis Rodriguez, Cruz Rodriguez, and Zaragosa Rodriguez, all of Mexico; and 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gilberto Rodriguez; seven brothers, Raul L. Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez, Roman Rodriguez, Manuel Rodriguez, Gregorio Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez; and sister, Oralia Rodriguez.
Pallbearers will be Antonio Rodriguez, Eliodoro “Gene” Rodriguez, Gilberto Rodriguez III, Antonio Rodriguez Jr., Joshua Alvarado, and Richard Robles III.
