The Herby Ham Activity Center is ushering in the fall season with a host of events and activities slated in the coming weeks.
On Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m., Joshua Schwencke will teach an aquaponics gardening class. Participants will learn how to build an aeroponic bucket with store-bought materials. Register by Monday, Oct. 24 by calling 830-591-2711.
There will also be a night sky exploration event at the center on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chairs and blankets, and will explore the night sky with a telescope.
A community dance is set for Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., with music by Rex Allen McNeil. Admission is $10 per person.
Other activities taking place at the center include woodworking classes with Les Brieden every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m, and again at 6 p.m. The classes are $5 each or $30 per month.
Afternoon games in session include pinochle every Monday at 2:30 p.m., and bridge, also on Monday at 12:30 p.m., and dominoes every Wednesday at 1 p.m.
For exercise enthusiasts, there is TaiChi every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and a core conditioning and stretching class every Thursday at 10 a.m.
Quilts of Grace is seeking volunteers to help sew, cut, sort or press fabric. No experience is needed, and the group meets every Wednesday at 1 p.m.
The Herby Ham Activity Center is located at 248 FM 3447, and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
