Jack M. Wall

Jack Mankin Wall, 87, of Uvalde and San Antonio died March 31, 2024, at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on May 20, 1936, in Sonora to Viola Turner and Tom Wall.

He is survived by his friends, Russell Roesener and Pat and Cheryl Lowe, all of Uvalde.

His family said he was a horseman and found his way to Sunny Cline Farms where he worked for Tommy and Maurine Oliphant. Upon his retirement, his family said, he went to work at Retama Park in San Antonio, feeding horses every day at 3 a.m.

His family said he survived many horse hooves and getting driven over at the farm. They said he was a kind and generous man who, even though he was tongue-tied, had a lot to say. He spent the last couple of months at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center being cared for by Legend Hospice and his friends.

His family said many people from Knippa and Sabinal remembered him fondly and always had a “Jack Story” to tell about his days living at Sunny Cline Farms and the Oliphants.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation is under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service is planned at Retama Park in San Antonio for a later date.
