Johnnie R. Carter
Johnnie Robuck Carter, 85, of Uvalde died on June 18, 2019, in San Antonio.
She was born on July 12, 1933, in Encinal to Mamie (Caffey) and Floyd Edwin Robuck.
She married Roy H. Carter on June 9, 1951, in Encinal. He preceded her in death in May 2001, after 50 years of marriage.
She graduated from Cotulla High School. She worked for many years at Jones Shoe Store in Hondo, before moving to Laredo with her family. She worked at FW Woolworth Company in Laredo for 25 years, then as a medical transcriptionist for Mercy Hospital until she retired in 2007. She then moved to Uvalde to be closer to her daughters.
She is survived by three daughters, Cathy Jarred of San Antonio, Laura Carter and husband, Kenneth, of Uvalde, and Gail Dorrycott of New Braunfels; five grandchildren, Heather Brock and husband, Craig, Scott Carter and wife, Reyna, Jeffrey Dorrycott and wife, Nar, Evan Dorrycott and wife, Elizabeth, and Alyssa Hamaker and husband, Thomas; her sister, Robbie West of Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carter was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Ray Wiley; three sisters, Dorothy Wiley, Nola Dillingham and Margret Viola Gravell; two brothers-in-law, Dave West and Jack “Bud” Dillingham; son-in-law, James Jarred; and two nieces, Brenda Kuykendall and Lisa Hammock.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
