Knippa shines senior spotlight on Ryan Santos

Knippa Independent School District is shining its senior spotlight on Ryan Santos, who enrolled in the district for kindergarten. He has enjoyed spending time with his classmates during his 13 years as a Rockcrusher.

Santos believes he will miss playing sports and enjoying lunch with his friends the most after graduation. His fondest memory was playing basketball his senior year and all of the good times he had with his teammates.

While attending school, Santos has participated in varsity cross-country, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, University Interscholastic League academics, and student council. His proudest accomplishments were qualifying to state in athletics and UIL.

Santos’s funniest experiences in high school were found in the cafeteria and traveling on the bus to sporting events.

“The moments that I have shared with my friends are irreplaceable and they will be memories I will look back on and cherish,” Santos said.

A unique experience for Santos was playing golf his senior year because he had little to no experience.

“At first, I thought golf wasn’t a sport and most golfers were not athletes but that was not the case. The first time I played golf, the ball was flying everywhere. I found golf to be challenging but a way of entertainment for me. As I progressed, I learned new things and I was able to enjoy the season,” Santos shared.

The advice Santos gives to younger students is to include yourself in social events, have fun with your friends, play sports you find difficult, and make the most of your high school experience because it goes by quickly.

Santos plans are to attend University of Texas at San Antonio in the Spring of 2025 to pursue a degree in computer engineering. In the fall of 2024, Santos will be working to become a United States Marine at Camp Pendleton in San Diego.
