Zachary Patino has been enrolled in Knippa since fourth grade. He has enjoyed the family type environment that Knippa has offered throughout the years he has been a Knippa student.Patino believes that he will miss playing the sport of basketball with his teammates the most after graduation. His favorite memory was winning the area championship against Bartlett high school, which advanced Knippa to the regional-quarterfinals.

While attending school, Patino has participated in varsity basketball, baseball, and cross country. Patino was awarded 1st team all-district both his junior and senior year in basketball. His proudest moment was defeating the Uvalde varsity basketball team by one point.

One of Patino’s funniest memories was at a cross country meet. “Seagulls were eating fries around coach Emily Willis and she threw them our way. Seagulls swarmed me and my friends,” Patino shared.

A unique experience for Patino was playing baseball for the first time his junior year. He recalled asking coach Josh King, “the baseball moves so fast, how do I hit it?” Now he is a vital part of Knippa’s varsity baseball team.

The advice Patino gives to younger students is enjoy the little things. He shared, “things come and go so fast. You don’t want to miss what is right in front of you.’’

Patino plans to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio in the fall to pursue a degree in kinesiology.
