La Pryor senior wins state powerlifting championship

La Pryor senior Valentin Garza won his second consecutive state powerlifting title last Saturday at Abilene.  Vying in the Class 1A/2A 165-pound weight division, Garza lifted 565 pounds in the squat, 315 pounds in the bench press, and 580 pounds in the deadlift.
