Mary Hope Armstrong Breaux, 66, of Odessa died on Jan. 25, 2020, in Odessa.

Breaux was born on Oct. 5, 1953, to Marge (Howard) and Bob Armstrong, in Pecos.

She moved to Odessa at age 3, where she attended public schools and graduated from Permian High School in 1972. After attending Odessa College, she enrolled in the University of Texas Permian Basin one year after its opening in 1973. She graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications.

Breaux enjoyed cooking and was a professional caterer. Her businesses included Parkway Café, A La Carte Eats, and Home Thyme Cuisine. Her business was one of the first in Odessa to offer pre-made, home-cooked meals for carry out or delivery.

Prior to following her passion to cook and bake for others, she had a career in public relations and public affairs. She volunteered and served on the boards of many Odessa nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she delivered food for Meals on Wheels.

According to her friends, Breaux made them feel special and welcome as she kept them close throughout the decades. They described her as generous, kind, and always thinking of others.

She is preceded in death by both parents.

She is survived by two daughters, Claire Elizabeth Breaux and Bethany Lynne Breaux, both of Texas; uncle, Jessie David Howard and wife, Dorothy, of Sabinal; and cousin, Carol Howard White, and husband, Tommy, of Blackwell.

A Type 1 diabetic since age 9, Breaux supported diabetes research and education.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to either the Permian Basin Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 3001 N. Big Spring, Suite. 104, Midland, TX 79705; or Meals on Wheels, 1314 E. 5th St, Odessa, TX 79761.

A memorial service was held Feb. 5 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Odessa at 11 a.m.
