Nueces Canyon Consolidated Independent School District officials announced last Friday that a staff member on the junior high/high school campus tested positive for COVID-19.
“Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 11, the staff member self-quarantined and will not return to any NCCISD building until we receive more information,” Nueces Canyon Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Kristi Powers said in a letter to the community.
She said the district disinfected campus buildings prior to the first day of school, which was Monday, Aug. 17.
Powers said she was unable to provide any additional information about the employee, but added the district is following protocols from the Texas Education Agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and school district attorneys.
“Each situation is unique and has to be dealt with depending on the situation regarding COVID-19,” Powers said of the situation in a follow-up email.
