OU makes Raley a full-time assistant coach

Russell Raley has been hired by Oklahoma University as a full-time assistant baseball coach.

Raley, who was a Uvalde High School baseball and football standout, joins Reggie Willits and Todd Butler on head coach Skip Johnson’s baseball coaching staff at Oklahoma.

Prior to being added as a full-time assistant, Raley was a volunteer assistant coach at OU.

Raley has had coaching stints at Arkansas-Little Rock, Incarnate Word, Texas Tech, and UT-Rio Grande Valley, before returning to Oklahoma.

After graduating from UHS in 2002, Raley played baseball for Oklahoma from 2003-2006.

Raley, a middle infielder, was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 21st round of the 2006 draft.

He spent a few years for the Yankees in minor league baseball, before returning to OU to serve as an assistant coach from 2008 to 2011.

Raley is the son of Uvaldeans DeeAnna and Terry Raley.

He is the older brother of Brooks Raley, who currently pitches for the New York Mets.
