The fifth- and sixth-grade classes of Uvalde Classical Academy spent their Friday putting together Valentine grams for their fellow student body in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

The grams are purchased by students and families of the school and consist of snacks, candy, balloons, and small stuffed animals, and a note which are delivered to the students during school to spread some love.

The Valentine’s grams are also a fundraiser to help with the costs of their spring trips, a yearly tradition for students in fifth and up. This year the fifth and sixth graders will be traveling to NASA in Houston, the USS Lexington, and the seventh and eighth graders will be going to Big Bend National Park.

Uvalde Classical Academy is very thankful for  Addie Langham, who facilitates and organizes these trips for the fifth- through eighth-grade classes.

At St. Philip’s we are wrapping up our annual Kids Heart Challenge to raise awareness for healthy heart habits and support for the American Heart Association.

Coach Adriana Patiño led students in a great day of heart-pumping activities cheered on by family and friends. Third-graders Tate Beard, Ceci Capt, Courtney Causey, Mia Mariscal, Madelynn McGrew, Brandon Ozuna, Zane Ray, and Luis Santiago did an amazing job helping our 3-K, pre-K, and kindergartners every step of the way.

We will observe Ash Wednesday on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 8:15 a.m. Parents are invited to share in this service with their children.
