Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District  assistant superintendent Beth Reavis is retiring, making her the fourth person in UCISD’s central office to depart in the aftermath of the May 24 tragedy at Robb Elementary.

Reavis, a Uvalde High School class of 1982 graduate, started her multi-decade career in 1993 as a teacher. She previously served as a department chairman, candle shop manager, special education facilitator, special education director, director of school improvement and federal programs, director of federal and state compliance, and director of human resources and federal programs.

She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership in 2014. She was also appointed to the district’s threat assessment team in November of 2019, which is a state mandate that requires the district form a committee to implement safe and supportive school programs to be used to assess threats of suicide, violence, and drug use.

The district’s board of trustees renewed her employment contract in April of 2022.

Her retirement announcement comes on the heels of UHS class of 1981 graduate Superintendent Hal Harrell’s retirement plans, which followed the departure of director of student services Ken Mueller.

Mueller was placed on administrative leave, but opted to retire, amid renewed controversy of the district’s handling of operations.

Michael Rodriguez, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, announced his retirement in late August.

Rodriguez, who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Texas at San Antonio, joined UCISD in 2016, coming from the San Antonio Independent School District.

District officials said more information on the office reorganization would be forthcoming.
