Rodeo Club announces summer slate


The Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club recently released its schedule for the 2023 summer rodeo season.

On June 13, the first points-night competition of the season will be conducted in the Arena at the Uvalde County Fairplex.

Two other points nights are scheduled for June 20 and July 11.

On July 22, the 60th-annual UYRC Rodeo will be staged.

The summer series awards banquet is slated for Aug. 1.

Youth rodeo events for the summer series are poles, cloverleaf barrels, straight barrels, goat tying, breakaway roping, ribbon roping, tie-down roping and team roping.

Three new events have been added to the list for this year’s summer season, including dummy roping, double mugging, and chute dogging.

Action on points nights will begin with lead-line competition at 5:30 p.m.
