Rodeo club presents awards for summer season

Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club athletes show off their winnings for 2023 summer competition. The Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club made its award presentations during the awards banquet staged last Tuesday at the Uvalde County Fairplex Events Center.

All-around saddle winners, for the summer series, for the different age divisions included Charlie Korczynski and Brynleigh Meyer in the 7-year-olds and under division, Ryker Dean and Ella Evans in the 8- to 10-year-olds division, Kooper Mello and Natileigh Meyer in the 11- to 13-year-olds age division, and Garrett Talamantes and Carly Rae Colvin in the 14- to 19-year-olds age division.

Kenedy Ramirez was the recipient of the Jim Herndon Memorial traveling trophy.

For the annual rodeo, traveling trophy winners in the four age divisions were Brynleigh Meyer in the 7-year-olds and under division, Tres Foster, in the 8- to 10-year-olds division, Natileigh Meyer in the 11- to 13-year-olds division, and Kiley Dean in the 14- to 19-year-olds age division.

In the individual summer series events, the top three finishers in points were as follows:

Dummy roping, girls 7 and under: 1. Kynnedi Cisneros, 29 points; 2. Grace McDonald 19 points.

Dummy roping, boys 7 and under: 1. Charlie Korczynski, 20 points; 2. Levi Cruz 19 points; 3. (tie) Dane Gonzales, Sloan Shanklin, and Tilden Mangold, 8 points.
