Rosalio Longoria Sanchez, 77, of Knippa died Sept. 10, 2021, at Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation began yesterday at 2 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary and a rosary was recited during a vigil scheduled for 7 p.m.

Sanchez was born on Aug. 30, 1944, in Dilley to Refugia (Longoria) and Isidro Sanchez. He married Maria Catalina Aranda on May 18, 1980, in Crystal City.

Sanchez is survived by his wife of 41 years, of Knippa; three daughters, Marina Umana, Chablie Sanchez, and Dionicia Mirelez, all of San Antonio; eight sons, Rosalio Sanchez Jr. and wife, Cathy, and Raul Sanchez, all of San Antonio, Christopher Sanchez and David Sanchez, both of Uvalde, Joseph Sanchez and Nathaniel Sanchez, both of Knippa, Angel Sanchez and wife, Eunice, of Killeen, and Emmanuel Sanchez of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Ester Hernandez of Crystal City, Maria Sloan of Wichita Falls and Jesusa Jimenez of Greeley, Colorado; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Francisca Martinez and Enedina Morquecho; two brothers, Domingo Sanchez and Enrique Sanchez; and daughter, Kathleen Aguero.

Pallbearers will be Rosalio Sanchez Jr., Raul Sanchez, Angel Sanchez, Christopher Sanchez, David Sanchez, Joseph Sanchez, Emmanuel Sanchez, Nathaniel Sanchez, Rick Aguero and Marco Ortiz.
