Soccer camp begins Monday

The three-day Uvalde youth soccer camp will begin tomorrow night at the Uvalde High School soccer complex located just off NorthCamp Street.

The camp is open to incoming fourth-grade through ninth-grade boys and girls.

Cost for the soccer camp, that will run tomorrow through Wednesday from 6 p.m, to 8 p.m., is $30 per camper.

UHS coaches Keith Pendleton and George Menchaca will instruct the camp, along with staff members and junior instructors.

Soccer camp is sponsored by the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District athletic department. To register or for more information on the soccer camp, call 830-491-4991.

This past week, UCISD conducted a four-day track-and-field camp.

UHS track-and-field coaches Libby Gonzales and Jerry Treviño termed the camp a big success.

Following the youth soccer camp this week, the UCISD will host a girls basketball camp and a wrestling camp.

On June 21-23, the girls’ basketball camp will be staged in Uvalde High School’s Harvey Kinchlow Gym.

The three-day hoops camp will run from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Basketball camp is open to incoming Uvalde fourth-graders up to sixth-graders.

Cost for the camp is 30 per camper.

Uvalde High School head coach Fortino Patiño and members of his staff will instruct the basketball camp.

On June 20-22, the Uvalde youth wrestling camp will be held on Kinchlow Gym.

Camp is for incoming fourth-grade up to ninth-grade boys and girls.

The camp will cost $25 per camper.

Later this summer, the UCISD will offer camps for various other sports including tennis, football, volleyball, softball, and baseball.
